2023-24 Rotary International President Gordon McInally - A look at the year ahead.

Even as we face new and serious challenges, Rotary takes care of its members and those we serve, works to build lasting peace, and embeds belonging and inclusion in everything we do. That is why I am asking everyone in Rotary to Create Hope in the World.

The President's main focus for this Rotary year are:
Pushing polio eradication to the finish line,
Prioritizing mental health,
Fostering peace, and
Creating a welcoming club experience.

This Rotary year we will be continuing with our Club Projects:

  • Cambodia - Free to Shine initiatives
  • Vietnam Health Cards
  • End Trachoma
  • Guitars 4 Vets
  • Cows for Cambodia

We will also look at any new projects. These will be presented to the Board and then taken to members. Of course, we shall also continue to support programs within District 9820 as they arise. These have included bushfire, flood events and local support programs.

We hold 2 meetings a month which will be on the 3rd & 4th Monday of the month. Board meetings are held on the 2nd Monday and all members are welcome to attend.

Welcome to the Rotary Club of Latitude 38

What is an eClub? An eClub is like any other Rotary club; it carries out service projects, supports The Rotary Foundation and members connect with each other as well as with members of other Rotary clubs. The difference is that we connect regularly online, not necessarily at the same time but at a time that’s convenient to each member.

How does an eClub operate?

The Club's website is the meeting place where the weekly meeting is posted (see below), as well as club project details, videos and other material are displayed and updated, all to enhance your Rotary knowledge in the area of community service. Some eClub members also meet in person at service projects, social activities, district conferences or the Rotary International Convention.

What do I commit to as a member of the Rotary club of Latitude 38?

You will be encouraged to:

  • Work through the weekly meeting below and if appropriate make comments on the club's Facebook page (this should take about 30 minutes each week);
  • Participate in club projects (see projects page), engage with a project of a local Rotary Club or local community organisation and tell the other members about it on the Facebook page;
  • Spend at least 12 hours a quarter on Rotary related activities;
  • Support the Rotary Foundation; and
  • Plan to attend an annual Rotary Conference or Rotary International convention.

Who can join an eClub?

Each eClub is based in a specific Rotary district but its members can be from anywhere in the world. Some eClubs focus their membership in a particular region or community.

An eClub could be right for you if you:

  • Have a busy schedule and need a flexible meeting time
  • Live in different places throughout the year
  • Travel frequently
  • Have limited mobility

We welcome your enquiry.

President

Donald Crewe

With the impact of COVID-19 and how it affects developing countries like Cambodia and Vietnam it is now more important than ever that we continue to support and increase our fundraising efforts with these projects.

Follow the links below for more information and details on how to support us and you can contact us via the webpage Contact Us form.

Cambodia Rice Drop

Vietnam Health Cards

Can't make it to your local club meeting due to COVID-19 or other reasons? Do a makeup session with us or join one of our regular online meetings which are very easy to join via Zoom.

See this page for more details or leave a message on our Facebook page and we can get back to you with more details and instructions if required. Feel free to donate via the makeup page if you wish as this helps support our projects.

Now it's even easier to become involved with your local Rotary Club. Becoming a Friend of Rotary eClub Latitude 38 allows those who share our ideals and objectives to participation in our activities without the responsibility of full membership. Find out more information and how to become a Friend of Rotary eClub Latitude 38 here.

Membership of Rotary, like any other activity in life, works better if you have a personal plan about how to get the most out of it. At the beginning of every Rotary year (1 July), or at any other time, why not sit down and plan how you will maximise your membership. In an eClub this is especially important as we don’t have the impetus of a weekly face-to-face meeting to give us a “push along”.

Here are some suggestions. You may think of other things you might do.

·         Run your eye over Rotary Basics to refresh yourself about what Rotary is about.

·         Work through the weekly meeting on the website and make comments on the club’s Facebook page.

·         Make regular posts on the Facebook page and respond to posts already there.

·         Look at the club’s projects page to see what projects you might become involved in.

·         Commit to contributing $A100 to the Rotary Foundation during the year through the Centurion

          Program. The club can organise this for you.

·         Commit to attending the District 9820 Conference or the district conference where you live.

·         Make suggestions on how the club can work better.

·         Participate!
