Welcome to Meeting No. 187 of the Rotary eClub of Latitude 38

President's Message

At last Monday's meeting we had our first training and awareness meeting. Nine members were present and participated well. Gabe Hau, President of the eClub of Melbourne was also present but from London!

The two topics we covered were:

  • My Leadership in Rotary
  • My Rotary World

We meet again on 17 June when we will look at Ethics and Vocational Service.

Next Monday night 27 May we meet online for a monthly general meeting. I am planning to show a video entitled "How to Manage Change" presented by Rotary International Director Noel Trevaskis at the International Assembly in Janiuary 2019. I think we will find this presentation to be very helpful in our future planning.

As I mentioned last week the Club's changeover will be held on Monday 1 July 2019 at 7.30pm online. I hope you can all be there to wish Grant and his team well for the year.

The District Changeover will be held on Sunday 23rd June, 2019, at the new Gumbuya World function centre in Tynong, near Pakenham. The cost is $48 per person and bookings close on 14 June. We are organising a club table for those close enough to make it.

Here is a video that was part of our meeting No.120 of 16 December 2017:

3 reasons why we can win the fight against poverty - Andrew Youn - Half of the world's poorest people have something in common: they're small farmers. In this eye-opening talk, activist Andrew Youn shows how his group, One Acre Fund, is helping these farmers lift themselves out of poverty by delivering to them life-sustaining farm services that are already in use all over the world. Enter this talk believing we'll never be able to solve hunger and extreme poverty, and leave it with a new understanding of the scale of the world's biggest problems.

Have a good week.

Brian Norris

President
