Welcome to Meeting No. 226 of the Rotary eClub of Latitude 38

This week's meeting material

Bushfire Appeal

Special Thanks to Rob A for his fundraising efforts which has pushed us past the $2500 mark. Please continue to spread the word about our special fundraiser and share the GoFundMe link on Facebook and email. Please see details on our GoFundMe page and donate if you can, even a small amount really does make a difference. Share the page on your Facebook timeline and email the link to your friends and family to help us support the victims of the bushfires.

DIK Warehouse Open Day - West Footscray

Has anyone from the club been to one of these open days? Its a bit far for me to travel to :-) but would love to hear about your experiences with Donations In Kind.

Smartraveller

Many of you probably already refer to the Smartraveller website and Facebook page but just in case you have not it is a great resource for those travelling overseas or for your family members that do. Especially at the moment with the Corona Virus COVID-19 affecting many countries and the changes they have made to their entry requirements. Don't get caught out, check with Smartraveller before you travel.

Vietnamese Health Cards

Update - Just received our first donation for this years project. I am aiming to donate to SAPP in November this year so the cards can be purchased and distributed before the end of the year to maximise the benefit for those in need.

On Monday 03 February I met with the President ( Tran Thanh Long ) of the Sponsoring Association of Poor Patients (SAPP) and donated $4100 AUD (64,400,000 VND) to purchase health cards in Dong Thap Province in the west of Vietnam. These cards will allow 800 Vietnamese to access free health care who would otherwise not be able to afford it. Many thanks to the generous people who support this project including Drouin Op Shop, Rotary Club Batemans Bay and District 9820

If you can make a donation it would be greatly appreciated and will allow me to purchase more cards to assist needy Vietnamese. Visit our projects page to see photos and information from my trip early this year.

Cambodia Rice Drop

Update. Today I received a lovely email from our friends at Free To Shine in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Fee said that with the extra money we left with them they have now purchased three pushbikes. Fee has also purchased tinned fish and bottles of soy and fish sauce which they will distribute along with the rice we left them to families in need. Thanks for letting us know Fee, much appreciated. Please see the photo on our Facebook page.

Thanks to everyone who has commented on our recent trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia. Please have a look at the photos on our Projects page and leave a comment on our Facebook page. We have some more photos coming so keep checking back on our project page. For those who missed out on the project update please join us at our next online meeting and we can discuss the project again, how it went and plans for the next trip....YES....planning on going again next year. Cannot keep me away now as I am hooked.
