Our club plans and co-hosts an adventure for select Year 10 students to Siem Reap for approximately 10 days each year. The students are typically VCAL students who are looking to broaden their experience and knowledge of a trade in another culture by helping other young people who are less fortunate than themselves. Projects include painting classrooms, helping local children with their English and building and refurbishing aquaponics systems. The variety of activities that the students can be involved in changes with the season and the size of the group. It also depends on the students fundraising efforts…we believe that giving the students ownership of their adventure empowers them as much as the work they do with and for the Cambodian people empowers them. A similar program is hosted by the Rotary club of Belvoir Wodonga.
